Dog Fest We had an amazing time at Dog Fest this year! Hosted by Channel 4’s Supervet, Professor Noel Fitzpatrick, the UK’s ultimate summer festival for dogs took place at Arley Hall in June. The highlight was the Vets4Pets Great Dog Walk, where participants and their canine companions raised money for Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home. Even better, we met many of our ex residents taking part in the walk. Meanwhile, our wonderful volunteers hosted the Doggy Hale Bale Race! We all really enjoyed watching all the dogs take part, from the energetic Collie types to the tiny Terriers. This year, it was a great honour that the organisers had spotted our display team at Crufts and asked us to do a demonstration on rescue dogs. Our Display Team are all exresidents of the Dogs’ Home which makes them very special. The event was a great opportunity to show everyone what wonderful pets rescue dogs make. Summer Fayre and Dog Show On the 17th of July 2016, we held our Summer Fayre and Dog show at Cheshire Dogs’ Home. We were blessed with the weather on the day but unfortunately underfoot was horrendous due to the torrential rain the day before which meant parking on the designated field became impossible. We really appreciate people persevering, even some in flip flops! The day consisted of doggie hay bale race, fun dog agility, fun dog show, bouncy castle, kids go karting, shooting range and many wonderful stalls including jewellery, drop coin, pick a bag, numerous raffles and many more. The dog show was kindly sponsored by Natural Instinct. We had dog displays from the prison service and well-heeled club. We also had guest appearances from Captain America, Spiderman and Optimus Prime. It was a fun day for everyone especially the children and we had an ‘adopt a balloon animal’ stall for children who were too small to hold on to a dog lead yet. We raised over £3,000 thanks to the support of the public. We would like to thank everyone who attended for their support and look forward to seeing you all again next year.
