Northern Tails - Sept 16

Manchester & Cheshire Dogs’ Home Events Display Team We are very lucky at the Dogs Home to re-home many beautiful dogs to such good homes. Some of our adopters like to volunteer after adopting with their new dog. We have an amazing Events and Display Team. These ex- residents partake in many activities such as: • Schools - to help with education and responsible dog ownership. • University - most recently to help the students relax before taking their exams. • Nursing homes - to provide some animal kindness for the aging population. • Events - To help with awareness and fundraising. At the moment, we have nine dogs that represent the dogs home at events. They are Poppy, Max, Betty, Rue, Louis, Wallace, Hamish, Fizz and Toby. These ex-residents have been an assets at Crufts this year. The display team put on a great show in the ring with almost 22,000 four-legged friends gracing the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. The team represented us amazingly well, showcasing the fact that rescue dogs can be trained out of bad habits and overcome problems, including Max that had eaten through two fridge freezers, a dog that was previously nervous aggressive and a deaf dog who now responds to sign language. If you are interested and think your dog has what it takes to join the display team then please contact Mrs A Stansfield at Cheshire Dogs’ Home 08445 041212. 1 8 N O RT H E R N TA I L S S U M M E R 2 0 1 6
